village-capture (May-2025)

The sounds of charging hooves and the smell of blood fill the tile. As peasants, tradesmen and militia take their place in buildings, they all know it's too late. The invasion force has already infiltrated their city - after the riots, any fellow citizen could be a traitor in disguise. Soon, the sounds of heavy cavalry fill the streets, as the first wave of shock troops storm the settlement. Quickly, their forces withdraw, though not without significant damage. Could it be that the carnage is over? Could they finally begin rebuilding? These thoughts were put to rest when the massive, lumbering giant made footfall in the town square, cutting through swathes of pitiful resistance. Finally, late at night, the fighting ceases. And, as one flag is set ablaze, another is unfurled. Thus, imperia gains another city, and the citizens adapt. The imperius' rules and regulations make no sense to them, but the occupying swordsmen assure them that in time they will understand all. Nevertheless, the wine is sweet, the land eventually prospers, and the citizens of the once-bardur capital wonder how they ever survived without the advancements in architecture, plumbing, and most importantly, the fine art of getting drunk, this time raising a toast to their overlords in blue instead of in brown.
